Spotify announces offline backup, for premium users

Spotify has announced the launch of Offline Backup, a new feature that allows Premium users to listen to their favorite music offline without the need for downloads. This feature is designed to cater to users who frequently find themselves offline but still want to enjoy their music.

How offline backup works:

  • Automatic playlist creation: Spotify will create a personalized playlist containing your recently streamed and queued tracks.
  • Includes cached tracks: The playlist will also include tracks that are already stored on your device as part of your regular Spotify listening.
  • Customizable playlist: You can filter and sort songs within the playlist by artist, mood, or genre to create a customized listening experience.
  • Evolving playlist: The playlist will continue to evolve as you listen to new music, ensuring you always have something fresh to discover.

Accessing offline backup:

To find Offline Backup, simply follow these steps:

  1. Ensure Offline Listening is Enabled: Go to ‘Settings,’ then ‘Data Saving and offline’ or ‘Storage,’ and enable the ‘Offline Listening’ toggle.
  2. Check Your Home Feed: Offline Backup will appear automatically in your Home feed when you’re offline.
  3. Add to Your Library: For easy access, you can add Offline Backup to your ‘Your Library’ section.

Note: Make sure your Spotify app is updated to the latest version to access Offline Backup.

With Offline Backup, Spotify users can now enjoy their favorite music without worrying about data consumption or storage limitations. This feature is a convenient and easy way to keep listening, even when you’re offline.
