Huawei has officially unwrapped the Nova 13 series for the South African market. The consumer group has confirmed that the Nova 13, including the Nova 13i, is available for purchase and pre-order.

Huawei’s Nova series has carved a significant niche in the smartphone market, which arguably could be its stylish designs, and competitive camera capabilities, including its competitive pricing.
Looking back in time, the original Nova aimed to capture the mid-range market with a focus on fashionable design. We remember the Nova 2 and Nova 4 bringing forward incremental improvements in camera technology and quality display.
The Nova 7 series solidified the brands’ promise by introducing sleek aesthetics and a competitive processor.
The introduction of the Nova 13 builds upon this heritage, with competitive camera prowess and stylish design.
It’s clear, that the Nova series keeps evolving to cater to the evolving needs of consumers while bringing forward a blend of style, performance, and camera capabilities.
First look and impressions
We spotted two colours for the Huawei Nova 13 in Loden Green and solid black. The Nova 13 comes in Blue and white.

Nova 13
The Nova 13 features a 6.7″ Full HD display, Kirin 8000 processor, 12GB RAM, and storage of up to 512GB. A spot a 5,000mAh battery, 50MP ultra Vision, and an 8MP ultra wide-angle sensor on the back.
It’s an attractive smartphone at first glance, but our concern is the fingerprint marks on the rear for the black version. The selfie camera is impressively loaded with a 60 MP ultra-wide autofocus camera, bringing the overall weight of the smartphone to around 195 grams.
Huawei’s interesting feature for their latest Nova 13 series is something called the AI best Expression feature which allows users to optimize their photos by pretty much cropping the worst features out and replacing them with better image options.

Nova 13i
The Nova 13i comes in an attractive white and Blue colour array. It features a Qualcomm snapdragon 680, 8GB RAM, 5 000mAh battery, and a 108 MP wide, coupled with a 2MP in-depth sensor. The front selfie camera comes in at 8MP with the overall weight of the smartphone at 199 grams. The impressive offering is the charging speed. With 40 W Huawei supercharge turbo, the battery is charged up to 62% in 30 minutes, on paper.

The Huawei Nova 13 comes in at a competitive price of R 12 999 with the 13i at R 6 999.
These are midrange smartphones, which cater value for money.
Huawei also unveiled their latest MatePad 11.5 tablet which is also available for order on Huawei’s online store.
